Anastasia Vayona

Anastasia is a Postdoc Fellow in Social Science and Policy at Bournemouth University. Over the course of 15 years, she has collaborated with  universities and research institutes across the UK, Greece, France, and Cyprus. She has worked in a number of European and UK research projects related to Green Deal, Sustainability  and the Circular Economy

Amanda Korstjens

Amanda Korstjens is a professor in Behavioural Ecology at Bournemouth University. She loves long hikes in nature, especially in forests. Her research focuses on tropical forests and wildlife responses to environmental change. She specialises in primate behavioural ecology and conservation. She has been traipsing through tropical jungles for research  (in Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Cost Rica) for over 30 years.

Anita Diaz

Anita Diaz is a professor in conservation ecology at Bournemouth University. She has worked in conservation and restoration of heathlands, grasslands and forest for almost 40 years. Much of her work has been in partnership with teams of students and close collaboration with conservation organisations including the National Trust, RSPB, Dorset Wildlife Trust and Natural England.

Sam Deakin

Sam Deakin is a graduate ecologist at Bournemouth University. He has a special interest in UK herpetology, but is more than happy to learn about anything relating to UK biodiversity, habitat protection and restoration. He spends much of his time hiking and recording species in Dorset, and also works in the Amphibian and Reptile Conservation field team.

Pippa Gillingham

Pippa Gillingham is an Associate Professor in Biogeography and leads a research cluster in Communicating Climate Change and Sustainability for Society. Having trained as an ecologist (specialising in insects), she is passionate about involving people with science on these topics. She now often collaborates with social scientists to understand how to do this better.

Cholwe Lupikisha


Cholwe Lupikisha is an Undergraduate BSc Geography. He is particularly interested in Human Geography, how our modern society operates as well as how the natural environment influences our daily lives.
